Solvitur ambulando...It is solved by walking," said the fourth century theologian St. Augustine of Hippo. Joe and Dianne have blessed us with a journey that we can live vicariously as Joe shares his personal struggles and his walk through the Holy Land. I especially valued the research Joe did on the sites he would visit enabling the reader to become integrated into the history and wonder of the experience.
Good condition, fast delivery. This author is the CEO of the company I work for so I was interested in reading what he believes and a little of his back ground because this is a Christian based company which is refreshing!!
Thank you both so much for the gift of your hearts in the contents of this book. As I read, I was reminded of my own covenant with God for my family, my trip to Israel in 1997 and my pitiful journal attempt of that trip! Reading how beautifully together, you and Dianne described the sights and emotions before, during and after this journey gave me better insight on how to go about keeping my promise to God on doing a better job of journaling. Joe, you opened yourself up to much possible criticism by being so transparent in revealing your thoughts and feelings. It is refreshing to see how when a person really wants to know God with whom he has covenant, it doesn't matter any more what man may think. As Peter states in Acts 5:29, "We ought to obey God rather than man." God drew you in by crisis, but He brought you out by your obedience to humble yourself before Him and covenant with Him...and that is where I pray you will allow Him to keep you as you lead our company in the revelation of what it will take for the revolution. This book is a true example of how two friends, colleagues and writing partners can collaborate using two very distinct and unique styles. Joe, I see you supplying the raw heartfelt emotion of God revelations during your journey. I saw your passion in the questioning of your prior teachings and your response of what you felt the real answers to be afterward while still respecting your faith as well as others. I saw Dianne helping you express this with her great writing ability in such creative imagery and passion for God, calling on His heart and hand in every detail. Together you both were able to reveal your spiritual journey in such a way that all reading could smell, touch, taste, hear and see it every step of the way with you. Again, thanks for the gift!
It is always interesting to find a book that addresses so many meaningful issues. I always find transparency lacking in so many books. Often, it is difficult for those writing to set aside egos to admit their flaws or to make themselves vulnerable. I find this book so refreshing because Joe shares his "inner dialogue" with us, his very private and raw thoughts. It is the same thoughts so many of us have and yet are afraid to truly put out on paper or to vocalize. To read of Joe's frank thoughts about his family, teachers, God, organized religion, different ethnic groups, etc made me respect, identify with and appreciate his struggles. Not to be overdramatic by my comparisons, but the thoughts of Martin Luther were similar..."Here's what the church says, but here is what I am reading and experiencing" people now like Bono who are openly saying "Where was the church when the AIDS epidemic first began to spread? I believe Jesus would have been one of the first to help the "least of these"...Joe experienced his reform much the same way the above mentioned men did through the guidance of spiritual mentors and his own personal study and pilgrimage. His goal is to bring spirituality back into his business, I know God will honor his faithfulness and there will definitely be another book about his reform in health care. Well written Joe and Dianne! Trusting more books are to follow!!
Joe & Dianne,
I finished the book last week and what a truly amazing journey it was to travel along with you to the Holy Land. So much of the teaching, spiritual discernment, and questions I am able to apply to my own spiritual walk. I cannot even put into words how INCREDIBLY BLESSED (caps lock is the only way to show my emotions in this message ;) I truly feel in my soul to work along side of fellow brothers and sisters and to know that not only my own future, but the future of this company, and of the long-term care industry are at the hand of our God--- because we as a body & company, are seeking God first and foremost in all that we do to care and love our people. How can we not succeed?
Thank you for giving us this special message and allowing us to see you as one of us... a faithful steward trying to find a way to be closer to Him and to be what God wants you be. I am renewed and encouraged in my own spiritual walk because of this testimony. It is my prayer that you will continue to be blessed in your own spiritual walk and that all who seek first the Kingdom of God in their decisions will be blessed!
In life and in business Joe has shown us his uncertainties, his despair, and his triumphs. He has risen above the challenges and frustration in life to transcend to a higher calling of discipleship. A testimony so richly described proving that suffering and hardship foster a deeper spiritual union and greater sense of God's plan. As Joe travels through the holy land his descriptions of the sights, sounds, and smells draw you into the spiritual experience right along with him. The most profound aspect of this book however is the culmination of his destiny, God's higher calling to change our healthcare system in ways that not only respect the dignity of the humam person and but also their spirituality. God Bless you and your continued ministry, Joe. I await volume 2.
Joe and Dianne have done a nice job with this book in that one gets a very genuine feel for the experiences. Many times, an author keeps too much distance from what is really REAL. I think in this book, Joe and Dianne ask pressing questions about spiritual issues, life issues, and interpersonal relationships. Many people choose to be bitter through tragedies and hard times, but it's clear that the authors understand that often the most is learned in the darkest times. Anyone interested in reading some very real and personal experiences of a true leader should consider this book. Many people I know have experienced a real blessing from the book, including me!
Joe,
After reading your book, I wanted you to know that I absolutely loved it! You and Dianne did such an amazing job. You both must be tremendously proud!Your personal story was heartbreaking and inspiring, with all of the challenges you faced growing up and in your early years of marriage. I was so impressed with your travels and your knowledge of history and your ability to communicate it all so beautifully. The night you were leaving Marco Island and turned around to go back to your family gives me chills. The power of God is miraculous . . . I cannot wait for your second volume to document how your covenant unfolds during your 40's and 50's and beyond.
The author's journey to the Holy Land brings out his inner most thoughts, doubts, and recollections about his purpose here on earth. We've all made promises to avoid the repercussions of our bad behaviors, but who of us really tries to keep those promises once out of the woods? In My God!Our God? the author shares his focused spiritual journey that will forever change his life. His preparation was robust. Using rich imagery and a strong foundational knowledge of the historical events leading up to the death of Jesus, his description is both personal catharsis and atonement, and should an inspiration to all of us. Who can ever really know what God's plan is for us? Whether or not you've ever considered making the trip to Jerusalem...Highly recommended.
Joe and Dianne: I have not been able to put this book down. I have read almost the whole book in a couple of days which is very unusual for me. It is exciting and inspiring to see where and how God has had his hand on your life, Joe, and taught you so much through your experiences. It was a gift for you and Dianne to share this with all who read it and are searching for their own answers. What you will offer them is a gift of hope. Thank you for this genuine and truly heartfelt work!
Dianne and Joe: I loved your book and as expected could only tear up as I read the chapter about Luke; what a miracle that you turned around that day! Thank you for taking me so eloquently through your journey to the Holy Land. Moreover, thank you for being the one to step forward and not be scared to bring God and spirituality into the workplace. CEO's in every line of industry can benefit from your example!
You both did a fantastic job....I am in awe, honestly.
My home, here at the Dell Webb Community, located in Summerfield Florida, hosts a haven of ardent seniors readers. Recently a dear friend presented me with "My God! Our God?" for my 68th birthday. An informative, enlightening, and well written story. I greatly recommend this book to all.
Enjoy the journey, it was wonderful!
Dianne and Joe: It's my BEST read in years! This book is going to touch and reach business executives who have never thought of allowing God to enter their business world. When Joe said YES to God, he has allowed himself to be used to touch the very people we would hesitate sharing our faith with! Get ready ... We haven't seen anything yet!

I have just finished this book and it reinforces the healing power of prayer. It reflects my Grandmother's unending belief that "God provides for the wants of others". I will recommend it to my friends. Great job Mr. Steier.
